If you’ve been keeping up with the site, then you already know that this past weekend was Appin’s last as JET guitarist. As of 1 September, 2006 the band will be introducing two “new” members. Continuing in the role of JET guitarist, as well as vocals, is Eddie Ueda and on keyboards and vocals his lovely and very talented wife, Mimi. With this change in band members comes a different, yet familiar, sound and repertiore. If you were on island throughout the ’80s, these two will be familiar in combination with Taki as the band Bullet.

As those of you who frequent Bar JET are aware, this will be the last weekend for JET guitarist Appin. His music career has taken him on a different path. We wish him well on that new path. So if you want to jam to those great songs he is so popular and well-known for, don’t miss the chance to see him once more this weekend at Bar JET. The band begins at 9:00 p.m. and plays five sets until 1:40 a.m.

For those of you who were at Bar JET towards the end of July, the “documentary†that was being filmed is supposed to be airing on NHK at 8:00 a.m. Sunday, 20 August 2006, according to the info told to Taki. For those of you who were not at the bar during the filming, here is some background info. NHK, the Japanese version of PBS, was filming the musicians of the local music scene in the Okinawa City area last month.
